Dorset looks to save millions with SAP tech
New IT systems implemented by Capgemini will save Dorset County Council an estimated £8.6 million a year.
As part of its transformation programme design to save money and improve customer focus, Dorset County Council has enlisted the help of Capgemini UK to implement and run a major new IT platform.
Capgemini will install an IT system based on SAP technology that will create a more streamlined business process within the council.
It will replace old HR, payroll, procurement and finance systems in order to deliver major savings and repay the investment cost.
The system will also give managers more accessible, up-to-date and accurate information on people management issues, budgets and learning materials. All staff will be able to update their own information, such as address details and leave requests and expenses claims much more easily online.
Dorset County Council's director for corporate resources, Elaine Taylor, said: "The Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system is the backbone of our change and efficiency programme and will drive us to improve how we work."
Dorset County Council estimates that the IT system, which will be implemented this autumn and is part of a three-year programme, will save them 8.6 million per year.
