BlackBerry Flip lands on O2
BlackBerry’s first clamshell phone, blending consumer styling with business features, makes its way to O2.
O2 has announced that the BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8220 smartphone is now available at the O2 web site and in its retail stores.
The Flip is BlackBerry's first clamshell style handset, a form factor that has been more consumer appeal than the company's conventional shapes, especially in the US.
The release of the new BlackBerry comes as a response to other networks' UK exclusives, such as Vodafone offering BlackBerry's much hyped touch-screen Stormand Orange garnering HTC's Touch HD.
The BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8220 offers a second display on the cover, built-in Wi-Fi and a microSD card slot. However, it is not a 3G device, making it less suited for web browsing.
The Flip 8220 is available for free on O2, depending on contract.
