NHS project tops FileMaker Awards

FileMaker Cube Awards

A pioneering software application to help NHS staff perform patient triage and assign levels of priority to patients in the first instance has scooped the lead award at this year's FileMaker Cube Awards.

Pathways Authoring Tools, an application developed in-house by NHS Pathways, claimed not only the Innovation Award but was also declared the Winner of Winners at the awards ceremony held today at London's Queens Club.

The awards were judged by a panel that included leading FileMaker developers, trainers, technical specialists and IT PRO's editor Chris Green.

"The FileMaker Cube Awards are continuing a long tradition of recognising developer excellence. The awards recognise the work of individuals and organisations for innovative, productivity-improving solutions created using FileMaker technology," said Tony Speakman, regional manager of Filemaker in the UK and Northern Europe.

Also among the winners was DataTherapy, which created an impressive application and user interface for managers and staff at Pret a Manger, the chain of sandwich shops. The Pret A Manger Manager's Toolkit allows staff to access training, appraisal materials, operation manuals and more from a simple touch screen interface. Head office staff can use the same system as a knowledge base for everything from store addresses to instructions for equipping and opening a new store.

The Education Award: Schools Administrator by CJM Software.

The Business Award: Pret A Manger Manager's Toolkit by DataTherapy.

The Innovation Award: Pathways Authoring Tools by NHS Pathways.
