Carphone slashes mobile and web security price tags
The retailer has partnered with security firm Kaspersky to offer more than half-priced discounts on mobile and internet security software.
The Carphone Warehouse has made a concerted New Year move to combat the rising tide of online fraud, by offering heavily discounted Kaspersky security software with a range of products.
Kaspersky Internet Security 2009 and Kaspersky Mobile Security will be bundled together for 24.99, which is less than half the recommended retail price of the package.
The software is on offer to anybody who purchases from Carphone Warehouse's range of mobile phones, smartphones, laptops, netbooks, broadband services and accessories, from any of its UK stores.
The Internet Security offering will provide a three-user licence, while the Mobile Security will provide just one.
The last year showed unprecedented growth in the number and sophistication of computer threats and it was thought that mobile security would start to be a major problem in 2009.
Research suggested that one in 10 people were affected by online fraud, with victims losing on average 875 each.
Graham Stapleton, group purchasing director at Carphone Warehouse, said: "It is important to take the initiative and offer to our customers, for the first time, a bundled offering comprising both smartphone protection and internet security in one box."

Kaspersky said that the Internet Security software will offer all-in-one security for PC and laptop users from malware threats.
The Mobile Security will provide protection from SMS and telephone spam. There is also the ability to secure all data and access to the device until it is recovered with remote wiping of information providing another option.
Also, should a new SIM card be entered into the smartphone, the Mobile Security software will send a hidden SMS which can inform the smartphone provider and/or relevant authorities the details of the new SIM card.
