Intel ships one million Nehalem chips
Intel has passed the one million milestone for shipments of its Nehalem chips.
Intel has reached a milestone having shipped one million Nehalem chips in a difficult economic climate.
The chip giant referred to the Intel Core i7 processors, which offer up enhanced PC performance, as "the best desktop processors on the planet."
"Users can multitask applications faster than ever before and experience maximum performance for everything they do," an Intel spokesperson told IT PRO today.
They added: "Therefore, despite the global financial conditions, this processor is experiencing high demand we put this down to its unparalleled performance."
Last week, the company announced its first quarter figures with its revenue falling by 26 per cent to $7.1 billion. However, chief executive Paul Otellini pointed to the Core i7's success.
During the earnings call he said: "We see this as a premium product. It is the best product in the marketplace, so you will see us maintain a premium pricing profile for this product for a while."
Otellini claimed there was a 50/50 split between desktops and servers that seem to be flying off the shelves since the launch despite increasing economic doom and gloom.
