T-Mobile has announced that an update for the Google Android G1 phone will be coming next month.
The announcement comes in the same week that the G1 device hit the one million unit sales milestone in the US, as well as coinciding with the release of the G1's competitor, Vodafone's new Android-powered HTC Magic. Click here for a first look review of the HTC Magic.
The update, known as "Cupcake," has already gone live but G1 users are due to get the download delivered straight to their phone sometime in May.
Richard Warmsley, head of internet and entertainment at T-Mobile, told IT PRO earlier this week: "We're committed to delivering a market leading internet service, and are excited that with the G1 and Android Market customers can tailor that experience to make it more relevant to how they want to use their phone."
Features of the Cupcake update include a touch screen keyboard, the ability to film and upload videos straight to YouTube and new widgets for the calendar and music player.
Warmsley also confirmed that T-Mobile will be launching another Android phone later this year.
