Week in Review: Palm readies Pre for UK launch
Apple is accused of lying, Facebook in privacy u-turn and Intel spends a week showing off its latest technology – it’s a busy Week in Review.
The week started with controversy as Apple was accused of lying over why it rejected Google's Voice application for the iPhone. The issue could have far reaching consequences for the telecoms industry in the US, and may well have an impact over here too.Privacy is always a hot topic, and no one knows this more than Facebook, who after user backlash shut down its Beacon ad technology that tracked its users activities on Facebook and other sites. AMD launched a new platform for server processors, while SGI said it can put a supercomputer on your desktop.Careful though, as according to TrendMicro, half of computers infected with malware stay infected for at least 300 days. Good news then that Microsoft's free anti-virus suite is just weeks away?.If you're feeling under pressure then you're not alone, as it was revealed that IT Pro's are working longer hours than ever, but apparently while we're at work, we're not talking to each other anymore. The big mobile news of the week was the confirmed 16 August release date for the Palm Pre and however it does against the iPhone 02 won't mind at it's got the exclusive for both. Finally all week, Nicole has been out at the Intel Developer Forum, which amidst all the major announcements , ended with a message on inspiration from Star Trek's Levar Burton.
