Cisco patches router and switch vulnerabilities
Networking giant Cisco has released its second security patch for 2009.
Cisco has released 11 security advisories, addressing 12 vulnerabilities in Cisco IOS software and Unified Communications Manager.
The issues affected routers and switches that use the software. The flaws could have allowed attackers to create Denial of Service (DoS) problems that could be exploited to cause DoS, buffer overflow or access control list bypass.
Cisco has released free software updates to address the flaws, but warned that prior to deploying the software customers should consult their maintenance provider, or check the software for feature set compatibility and known issues specific to their environment.
This is one of the two patch releases Cisco sends out annually, on the fourth Wednesday of March and September each year.
