Cisco has launched a new switch product for its Nexus line designed to integrate with blade servers.
Details are still sparse as Cisco has yet to confirm release dates and who it will be partnering with.
The Nexus 4000 is built to fit in a blade server system and enables 10 gigabit ethernet and fibre connectivity through one switch, negating the need for separate products and extra wiring.
The switch will support the NX-OS operating system but the key is that it will fit into non-Cisco chassis' from the likes of HP, IBM and Dell.
The company claims the switch will be high performance with a 1.2 microsecond delay across the chip and 1.3 to 1.5 microseconds from port to port.
