HP launches storage and networking products for SMBs
Small and medium businesses are the focus of new products from HP.
HP has announced a collection of new storage and networking products aimed at small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs).
The products will reduce both costs and energy consumption for SMBs and help them "gain a competitive edge," according to HP.
Lee Johns, director of marketing for the Unified Storage Division at HP, said in a statement: "Small businesses need storage technology that lowers risk by quickly bringing data back online if a disaster occurs. It can also increase productivity by sharing and remotely accessing files outside the office."
With this in mind comes the first new line, the HP StorageWorks X500 Data Vault Series. The storage devices are compatible with up to 10 PCs or Macs featuring up to 3TB of storage, a simple process to share files and automatic backup including a manual priority setting for the most important files, copying them to a second hard disk drive.
Pricing for Data Vault starts at 487 (445).
The HP StorageWorks X3000 Network Storage Systems High Availability Bundles may not roll off the tongue but could offer a small business everything they need. They include a HP StorageWorks X3000 gateway, HP StorageWorks MSA2000 array, a host bus adapter and even the cables to link it up with.
The X300 includes deduplication and RAID 6 as well as supporting both Fibre Channel and Series Attached SCSI (SAS). It does come at a price though with the bundles starting at $9,999 (6,252).

Prices for eight ports start at 145 (132) with 24 ports starting at 365 (333).
