Mac users will be able to use Microsoft's Windows 7 before the end of the year, Apple has said.
Apple's Boot Camp, which lets Mac computers dual boot Apple and Windows operating systems, users will be able to use Windows 7 - but only if their Mac runs the latest Apple OS Snow Leopard.
"Apple will support Microsoft Windows 7 (Home Premium, Professional, and Ultimate) with Boot Camp in Mac OS X Snow Leopard before the end of the year," the firm said on its website.
"This support will require a software update to Boot Camp," it added.
A series of Mac computers, including iMacs and MacBook Pros, released in 2006 will not support Windows 7, despite supporting XP and Vista. Microsoft has said that any computer that supports Vista will be able to run Windows 7.
Apple refreshed its MacBook lineup earlier this week, as Microsoft unveiled the new Windows 7 operating system.
