Bookworms holding out for an e-book reader for Christmas can now feed their literary appetite on the move for free.
Amazon today unveiled its Kindle for iPhone app, making it available to 60 countries including the UK. The app was launched in the US back in March.
In addition to purchasing e-books from the Kindle store and viewing them on their iPhone and iPod Touch devices, users can also synchronise between what's on their Kindle, mobile device and computer thanks to Amazon's Whispersync technology. This means they can pick up where they left off reading wherever they happen to be.
"We are excited to make the Kindle for iPhone App available to iPhone and iPod Touch users in more than 60 countries, allowing them to access the vast selection of the most popular books, all available wirelessly from the Kindle Store," said Ian Freed, vice president, Amazon Kindle, in a statement.
"The Kindle for iPhone App is the perfect companion for customers who own a Kindle or Kindle DX, and a great way for customers around the world to download and read books even if they don't yet have a Kindle."
