Visual Studio 2010 delayed by performance issues
Developers of Visual Studio 2010 and .NET Framework 4 want more time to test the products to improve performance.
Microsoft has announced it will be unveiling its release candidate of Visual Studio 2010 and .NET Framework 4 in early 2010, putting the official release date back by a few weeks.
A post on Somasegar's blog confirmed that the company wanted to extend the beta period of the software following the shipping of its second beta and to this end a release candidate would be coming out in February.
The blog said: "A lot of you have given us very positive feedback on the new capabilities of VS 2010 and .NET Framework 4 and are very happy with the breadth of value that we are poised to deliver in this release."
It added: "At the same time, you have also given us feedback around performance issues, specifically in a few key scenarios including virtual memory usage Based on what we've heard, we clearly needed to do more work."
Although this is putting the full version release date back, response to the blog post has been widely positive with users preferring to give more feedback and shape the release rather than get half-finished software.
