Apple's rivals: The tablet PCs already on the market
As Apple gets ready to unveil its own tablet computer, we look at the competition already out there.
HP has made the bold claim that this is "the world's first multi-touch consumer tablet PC." Like the other tablets, this HP features a swiveling display, so it can be used as a laptop with full keyboard or a tablet with a 12.1in touch screen. Unlike the other tablets, it comes in at a decently low price - it's just $949 in the US.
It is a little heavier, with a starting weight of 4.72 pounds, but HP is promising close to 10 hours of battery life. On top of that, it comes preloaded with 3D desktop software BumpTop, which is perfect for a touchscreen environment.
Fujitsu LifeBook
Fujitsu has long had a line of LifeBook tablet PCs. They range in price from $1,149 to $1,899, with screen sizes between 8.9in and 13.1in.
The top-line LifeBook P1630 tablet is really a high-end ultraportable. It features an 8.9in "touch-sensitive" display, as well as ultra low voltage Intel Core 2 duo processor. It weights in at just 2.2 pounds, making it one of the lighter versions - cheaper tablets in the LifeBook lineup top 5.5 pounds.
All those specs sound great, but they don't come cheap. The low-end version will run $1,899, and that's without adding any upgrades.

Not all tablets feature a keyboard, however. This slate series from Fujitsu is just the 12.1in touchscreen bit. Designed for working on the go, it comes "semi-ruggedised", but also features a stand for at use at a desk.
