Opera tries to bring Mini browser to iPhone
Opera has created a version of its browser to the App Store - but will it be approved?
Opera has created a version of its Mini browser for iPhone users, but now it must clear the hurdle of being approved for the Apple App store.
Opera is set to unveil the iPhone-friendly browser at Mobile World Congress next week, but promised the it would include all the "favourite features" of Opera Mini.
However, Apple is - in some ways - notoriously picky about which apps it lets through. Despite approving applications for games like iFart, Opera Mini would be the first major browser to head to the iPhone aside from Apple's own Safari.
Firefox developer Mozilla has previously accused Apple of making it "too hard" to create a good user experience for third-party browsers on the iPhone.
An Opera spokeswoman told IT PRO that the Opera Mini browser hasn't actually been submitted to the App Store yet, and no timing details were available.
"However, we hope that Apple will not deny their users a choice in web browsing experience," she added.
