MWC 2010: Toshiba takes wraps off TG02 and K01 handsets

Toshiba K01

Toshiba has used the first day of Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona to unveil the successor to its slim line Windows Mobile-powered TG01 handset.

The TG02 will also run the latest version of Windows Mobile and features a 4.1in VGA capacitive touch screen. There's also a new 3D-based menu system to ensure users can get to the entertainment features they prefer quickly and easily and, like its predecessor, it's primed for video on the move, according to Toshiba.

Toshiba's announcement also surprised with news of the K01 handset. It'll boast the same lavishly sized screen (4.1in) as the TG02 but will be a first for the company as it's an Organic Light Emitting Diode (OLED) capacitive display. And, while the TG02 is keyboard-free, the K01 will feature a slide-out QWERTY.

Designed with messaging in mind, according to Toshiba, the K01 comes with a new interface and 1GHz processor for ease of browsing.

As yet, Toshiba hasn't confirmed when these two new handsets will be available.
