Apple approves Opera iPhone app
Despite many thinking Apple might block it, Opera Mini is the first major rival browser to arrive in the app store.
Opera Mini is headed to the iPhone, after Apple approved the browser for sale in the App Store.
Opera's mobile browser is the first major browser to be distributed via the App Store, other than Apple's own Safari. The Norwegian developers submitted the application three weeks ago.
Lars Boilesen, chief executive of Opera Software, said in a statement: "This app is another step toward Opera's goal of bringing the web to more people in more places."
Opera claimed that Mini users will "notice an uptake in speed" and will save money, as its compression will cut back on data bills.
