Google Nexus One arrives in UK on Vodafone this week

Nexus One

The Nexus One will be available for customers from 30 April on the Vodafone network, following reports of numerous delays with Google's smartphone.

Previous stories had hinted at a March launch, but the month went by without any confirmed release date.

A Vodafone spokesperson told IT PRO that there had not been any delays and the communications giant made the announcement on the Nexus One release when it felt ready.

He added that the device is "an excellent addition" to the firm's range of Android phones.

The phone will be available online and at Vodafone stores as well as through telesales. People who pre-order online can get hold of a Nexus One for free on a 35 monthly plan for a 24-month deal.

Features on the device include Google Maps Navigation, offering a sat nav-style system for drivers with turn-by-turn driving directions, as well as the ability to control Google Search with voice.
