Sky has announced it will be upgrading all its customers to 20Mbps broadband for free this summer.
The company, which offers phone and internet bundles alongside its TV channels, will be consolidating its deals to offer just two from 1 June.
Sky Everyday Lite will come free for customers who have Sky Talk, or cost 5 per month for others, and offer the 20Mbps connection. However there is a pretty low 2GB usage cap per month so it really is only meant for light internet users.
The second offering called Sky Unlimited may cost extra 7.50 per month for those with Sky Talk or 12.50 for those without but it removes the cap and has no fair use policy.
Signing up to either deal will mean committing to 12 months and the DSL connection means achievable speeds may vary depending on where customers live. However, the boost in broadband for many will be worth the minimal price tag on these deals.
