Sony to kick-off World Cup trade-in scheme this week
Sony is to launch a trade-in scheme on 29 April that will offer money off products in return for old electronics goods.
Sony UK has set up a trade-in service offering money off new products in return for consumers' old electronics goods, as part of the firm's run up to the football World Cup.
Having run a similar project last year to coincide with the automotive scrappage scheme, customers will be able to hand in old items, such as mobile phones or television sets, even if they are not working.
An advert featuring Kelly Brook alongside England football legends Stuart Pearce, Terry Venables and Graham Taylor will air in support of the campaign.
The offer will start this tomorrow and run until 11 July the day of the World Cup final in South Africa.
"This campaign is not only timely in helping people take their entertainment to the next level, it is also a good way to encourage the responsible disposal of old technology," said Andy Benson, commercial director at Sony UK, in a statement.
"We've extended the promotion to include a wide range of products, so I'd recommended checking in store to see what's on offer."
