HP has announced 10 new servers to add to its Proliant G7 and Proliant Blade ranges.
At its annual Tech Forum held in Las Vegas, the company's executive vice president and general manager of Enterprise, told a press conference it was the "most significant" refresh in four years.
There are three new additions to the Proliant G7 server rack range, the DL980, DL580 and the DL585, all aimed at aiding HP's move to a converged infrastructure.
The products are built from what the company deems "industry standard" components, meaning whilst they all look very similar, upgrades, new parts and even power supplies are also easily interchangeable.
The DL980 is an eight socket server with 2TB of built in RAM, which HP claims doubles the performance of other x86 technologies already on the market.
The DL580 and DL585 are both four socket servers. The first offers up to 1TB of memory and 11 IO slots, with the claim it offers the same performance of 91 G4 servers in just one box.
All three servers feature new self healing capabilities, enabling the isolation of individual memory failures therefore increasing uptime, and come with a bold claim of 96 per cent reduction in power and cooling needs.
"The brand new Proliant G7 [servers] really are breakthrough," said Mark Potter, vice president of industry standard servers at HP, during the press conference.
"They have double the availability of competing technology and the ability to truly take advantage of the scale."
There will also be seven new additions to HP's leading Blade product line, including what the company claimed was the first ever 1TB memory server blade, the BL680.
One rack of the four socket blade has enough RAM up to 16TB to house the world's largest library, according to Potter.
On the other side was the BL620 which HP said was the most scalable two socket server "on the planet." It has fibre channel, iSCSI, 1GB and 10GB ethernet connectivity, helping again with HP's drive towards convergence.
All the new servers will be available by the end of July.
