Windows Phone 7 release date set for 11 October
A media invite to the official launch has confirmed the release date of the much-anticipated mobile operating system.
Microsoft has let slip the launch date of its upcoming mobile platform, Windows Phone 7.
The company has sent out invites to the press, asking them to attend Microsoft's office in New York on Monday 11 October at 2:45pm for the worldwide launch event.
"We will provide an insider's look at Windows Phone 7 and the Microsoft experience it brings to life," wrote Hemang Patel, Windows Phone solutions strategist at Microsoft.
Although it was widely expected the launch would come this month, the invite is the first official confirmation from Microsoft.
The software giant confirmed back in July it would be working with LG, Asus, Dell, Samsung and HTC as hardware partners to create mobiles based on the platform.
