BlackBerry PlayBook set for UK release in Q2 2011
A senior executive from Research in Motion has confirmed the UK release of the tablet, along with an expected price of $500.
Research in Motion (RIM) is set to launch the BlackBerry PlayBook on our shores in the second quarter of 2011.
Speaking to Digitimes, Greg Wade, director of RIM in the Asia Pacific region, confirmed the UK launch date of the tablet device, along with a price of $500 (313).
Unsurprisingly, the PlayBook will make its debut in the US in the first few months of next year, but this confirmation could mean UK customers would have to wait until the summer to get their hands on the device.
IT PRO contacted BlackBerry in the UK to confirm the launch date but it had not returned our request at the time of publication.
Despite its consumer sounding name, the BlackBerry PlayBook will mainly be aimed at the enterprise market. The seven inch touchscreen tablet will feature dual high definition cameras for video conferencing, will pair with BlackBerry mobiles and will support Adobe Flash.
