HP and Google partner for cloud printing
Printing over the cloud could kick off, thanks to the new HP and Google partnership.
HP and Google have joined forces to make printing via the cloud simple and secure - linking apps to printers.
The partnership will allow users to print directly to any HP ePrint-enabled printer from Google Cloud Print supported apps running on smartphones, tablets or PCs.
Using the cloud, businesses will not need to bother with print drivers or PC connections.
"Users are rapidly migrating to web and mobile apps, and Google Cloud Print brings full-featured printing capabilities to these apps," said Mike Jazayeri, director for product management at Google.
"While cloud printing is possible with any printer that is connected to a PC, users can achieve a more streamlined, intuitive experience by printing directly to a cloud-ready printer."
To get going, users need to add the unique email address of their HP ePrint printer to their Google account.
By sending the print job as an attachment, it is processed through the ePrint cloud.
