Has the cookie crumbled?
A new directive comes into force from the EU meaning significant changes in the way websites work with cookies. Simon Brew tries to make sense of it all...

To minimise the impact changes may have, the first recommendation is clearly to make some effort to abide by them. Firms should also focus in particular on what are deemed the more intrusive cookies, the ones that store greater data, and arguably the most intrusive.
Importance
Yet few are arguing that the day of the cookie is coming to an end. Quite the contrary. If anything, the EU changes recognise the ongoing importance of the cookie as a business tool.
