TIBCO has acquired LogLogic in an attempt to boost its presence in the cloud space.
Details of the figure paid were not released by the companies but both boards of directors have agreed on the terms.
LogLogic is best known for its creation of log and security intelligence platforms or LSIPs, which allow businesses to track large volumes of data and proactively discover issues or possible threats to security and operation, then address them head-on.
The firm offers an appliance to run inside the datacentre and search out security or compliance issues, but recently ensured it was VMware compatible, allowing for searches on virtual machines and any cloud deployments the company has, even through to mobile devices.
TIBCO already provides a number of products for enterprise infrastructure, both addressing internal deployments and operations in the cloud. However, the company thinks adding the LogLogic technology will give it an extra string to its bow.
"Enterprises must be able to analyse Big Data', including machine data generated from across their various systems, to gain comprehensive, real-time insights into critical business questions relating to compliance, security and operations," read a statement from TIBCO.
"LogLogic will build upon TIBCO's proven capabilities in event processing and in-memory analytics."
The deal has to face all the usual regulatory sign-offs, but the two firms hope they will complete the acquisition in the second quarter of TIBCO's fiscal year 2012 - which began in March 2012.
