Q&A: Tim Jones, Trader Media Group
In the third interview of our special series talking to IT and business leaders who are taking part in this year's Byte Night event, we speak to Tim Jones, CIO of Trader Media Group and publisher of autotrader.co.uk.

Why are you taking part in Byte Night this year and have you participated before?
I'm a Byte Night newbie so this is my first time. I think it's a great opportunity for the tech industry to stand out and show what a great and varied set of individuals we work alongside and that we love coming together to do great things.
It's fantastic that in this case it's for such a great cause.
What's the worst that can happen? Meeting some great people having a few beers, having fun and getting a bit wet and cold is a fantastic way to support such a worthy cause.
Do you think it's important for the tech industry/business world to support such good causes?
Absolutely. I think in an always connected, highly mobile and socially networked society, tech is at the core of what makes that all go round. As an industry we - along with marketing guys -probably the industry's most likely to be able to innovate to do some great things for good causes.
What one gadget will you be taking with you on the night?

I haven't really thought about it to be honest, but knowing me my iPhone.
What will you do if it rains?
I thought we had booked a lovely dry evening, with low cloud cover to keep the chill off? That's what I was told....hmm I need to talk to Paul about that then.
What do you hope to take away with you after Byte Night?
Probably the realisation that this for me is just one night, with a hot shower and warm bed to come home too and the young people we are hoping to support don't all have that opportunity.
What words of encouragement would you give to fellow Byte Nighters?
What's the worst that can happen? Meeting some great people having a few beers, having fun and getting a bit wet and cold is a fantastic way to support such a worthy cause.
And what would you say to those unsure about taking part?
It's a great opportunity to do something different, support a great cause and let out your inner geek!
Anything else you'd like to say about the event/cause?
What's stopping you? I think it will be great to continue to roll out sister events throughout the UK and really drive the benefits for Action for Children.
