Momentum 2012: EMC reinforces Documentum commitment with product refresh
Storage giant takes the wraps off latest version of its flagship enterprise content management system.
From Q4 onwards, Documentum and xCP users will soon be able to access information stored in the system from any device using a cloud connector tool from Syncplicty, the online file sharing firm EMC acquired in May.
Speaking to IT Pro, Jeetu Patel, general manager of EMC Syncplicity, said the connector's introduction should benefit field workers.
"For a lot of our customers, the system of record [for a lot of their data] is Documentum and they want to share bits of that information with their sales teams and suppliers," said Patel.
"This will allow them to share their Documentum content with users so they can have access to it on their mobile devices, online and offline...and if a person leaves the organisation, they can easily delete that data."
The event has also seen EMC debut new versions of its data capture offering Captiva 7.0, which allows end users to digitise and extract information from paper documents for use of applications, as well as its SourceOne eDiscovery and File Intelligence products.
