Exertis has announced the two charities set to benefit from the company’s fundraising efforts over the last 12 months.
Sebastian’s Action Trust and Leukaemia Busters were selected to share the funds raised by Exertis employees, which totals £4,444. Through a variety of activities including dress down days, a charity panda bear raffle and a meat raffle, the generous staff has been able to support the two deserving charities.
The vision of eight year old Sebastian Gates, Sebastian’s Action Trust has created the UK's only purpose-built facility that offers respite holidays to very sick children and their families, enabling precious time to be spent together. The Trust also operates a family outreach hub in Berkshire, providing a welcome drop-in centre for families of seriously-ill children, enabling them to access advice, guidance, counselling and therapeutic support.
Commenting on the generous pledge, a spokesperson from Sebastian’s Action Trust says: “We wholeheartedly thank Exertis and its staff for the kind donation to our cause. Without such donations we would not be able to help families in their most trying of times. All families of seriously-ill children should be able to have quality time together to relax, recharge and rebuild and the kind people at Exertis are helping us to deliver this.”
Sharing half of the funds raised is Leukaemia Busters, a UK charity with a mission to fund and conduct research focused on discovering and developing novel antibody-based treatments for patients with leukaemia and other related blood cancers. Leukaemia Busters has a 25 year unbroken history of high quality research that has led to a number of important discoveries that will benefit patients in the near future.
Says Mark Kahr, purchasing director at Exertis: “It was no surprise to see the Exertis team enthusiastically embrace the fundraising activities. It was however a surprise to hear the amount that had been raised, at a time when we are all feeling the pinch.
“Our fun-loving and kind-hearted team continue to show dedication in both their professional lives and in their efforts to improve the lives of others.”
