Webgains has appointed ex-Ve Interactive senior affiliate partnership manager Julie Davidson as its UK head of sales.

Davidson hs been brought onboard to develop the company's sales strategy in the UK and will be tasked with building the company's network of partners to find new opportunities in the performance marketing space, covering affiliate marketing, lead generation, call tracking and mobile marketing.

She said one of the major challenges she wishes to address is the introduction of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which is due to come into force in 12 months' time, as well as helping partners educate their customers about the rules and regulations, while still building their business.

"With the enforcement of GDPR, it is going to be harder to enhance customer experience and improve performance," Davidson said. She will make this a priority in her leadership, ensuring Webgains can meet its goals, even when the industry undergoes a substantial change.

Davidson also vowed to "build a strong confident sales team that capitalises on the new culture and tech that takes the team and the business up to the next level. A team in which individuals don’t see any limit to the possibilities of what they can achieve within the organisation."

Before joining Ve-Interactive, Davidson held various sales roles at BT, recruitment and the national press, where she gained valuable experiencing leading teams and achieving success.

“Julie has some great experience in running both telesales and field-sales teams," Richard Dennys, Webgains’ CEO said. "Also her contact network is second to none following several years at Ve and previous to that, BT."
