Thanks to an arguably irritating but undeniably effective ad campaign, GoCompare’s name is burned into the brain of every TV-watching person in Britain. Behind the larger-than-life tenor, however, is a company that has put powerful technology to work with a view to saving users money on financial products.
GoCompare is entirely reliant on its technology platforms, and has the unenviable task of having to keep large swathes of highly sensitive personal data secure and confidential. As CTO for GoCompare, Jackson Hull is key to the company’s success.
Joining the company in 2016, Jackson has brought his experience as a start-up CTO in Silicon Valley and London to bear, helping the company explore new avenues, including cutting-edge machine learning systems.

Describe your role in 20 words or fewer.
I’m the Chief Technology Officer and Chief Operations Officer for GoCompare, managing the commercial and tech strategies and teams.
What was your first computer?
My first PC was a custom box with an Intel 8086 chip, hand built with love.
What do you like most about working in IT?
I enjoy solving business and customer problems with technology.
If you could magically get rid of one piece of technology forever, what would it be, and why?
I'd rid the world of the internal combustion engine - the grand carbon-conversion experiment is reckless and climate change will have a lasting negative impact on the human condition.
What future tech innovations are you most excited about?
I’m really excited about the possibilities of blockchain and distributed applications.
Who’s your biggest inspiration in the world of tech?
Salesforce founder Marc Benioff is my biggest inspiration.
Since joining the IT Pro Panel, Jackson Hull has moved from GoCompare to OakNorth Analytical Intelligence and is no longer an active member of the Panel due to our non-vendor policy.
