Logicalis acquires Trovus to boost BI offering

Logicalis has acquired analytics firm Trovus, allowing the IT solutions provider to extend its services to include visual information insights and big data analytics.

The firm is driving forward to establish itself as a provider embracing new technologies including social, mobile, analytics and cloud technologies and this purchase means it can fulfill some of these tech targets.

Arnaud Spirlet, head of European markets for Logicalis explains that analytics has become a crucial element of the emerging SMAC model, because it provides business managers with the insights they need to drive business innovation and get in front of their competitors.

“Trovus will bring that ability to our customer’s users, but without the need for costly and complex data re-structuring or application renewal projects, shrinking delivery timescales from many months to matter of weeks or even days,” he says.

Ed Charvet, currently managing director of Trovus, will become director of Information Insights at Logicalis UK.

He explains that SMAC is a fast-moving industry and company executives are increasingly asking for access to national and international expertise, which the tie-up with Logicalis offers.

“Trovus and Logicalis have partnered successfully for some time, giving clients the benefits of both highly focussed Business Intelligence (BI) consultancy to define the best solution, and the ability to then scale organisation wide using Logicalis’ deep technical resources and global reach,” he says.

Spirlet finishes: “This acquisition strengthens Logicalis’ position as a leading provider of consulting and solution services in a market that, according to ABI Research, could be worth $114 billion globally by 2018.”

The news comes at a time of transition for Logicalis, appointing Rob Evans as COO and Mark Rogers as CEO in the last few months, following the departure of UK MD Mark Starkey.
