AV, print, and digital imaging distributor Midwich has announced its acquisition of Manchester-based pro audio specialist RW Salt Communications.

The acquisition will bolster Midwich’s pro audio division, which it set up last year. It has already signed up manufacturers such as Signet, Bosch, Cloud, JBL, Denon, RCF, Sennheiser, Shure and TOA.

Stephen Fenby, managing director of Midwich (pictured) comments: “In recent years we have sought to build technical depth into our audio visual offering – both organically and through targeted acquisition. The acquisition of R W Salt represents a significant boost to our capability to provide high added value support to our customers with audio projects. Cost effective, efficient distribution remains a core part of our business. However, we are now also able to provide extensive technical support for a wide range of complex audio visual projects.”

He adds: “Besides audio, existing RW Salt customers will benefit from access to a much larger product range, including displays, projection, connectivity, command and control, digital signage, security, access control and much more.”

Says Craig Buckley, former managing director at RW Salt: “RW Salt Communications looks on this acquisition as the next step in the company's development. By integrating within the group, RW Salt will be able to move forward into new and exciting areas of business and expand on the many vertical markets that are serviced by the Midwich group of companies.”

Midwich hasn’t disclosed the details of the acquisition. The RW Salt team of nine will be retained at its Trafford Park facility.
