SysGroup snaps up Certus IT in £8m deal
SysGroup wants to grow its business by using acquisitions as a springboard
SysGroup has announced the acquisition of Certus IT for £8m in order to scale its business organically.
The purchase means SysGroup will be able to take advantage of Certus IT’s relationships with the professional services and manufacturing sectors, building upon its existing ties with the financial services, retail, insurance, charity, education and healthcare verticals.
It also means the managed IT services and cloud hosting provider will be able to branch out geographically into Certus’ key South Wales, South West and M4 corridor regions.
"I am delighted to be welcoming both the Certus IT team and its customers to the SysGroup family," said Adam Binks, CEO of SysGroup.
"The addition of Certus IT to the group represents a step-change regarding the scale of the business, better positioning SysGroup to penetrate our target market and drive further growth."
Certus IT is a Dell EMC Gold Partner and was awarded Cloud Partner of the Year in 2015. It means SysGroup will be able to add this accreditation to its portfolio that also includes WatchGuard Platinum Partner, Microsoft Gold Datacentre Partner and Kaspersky Gold Partner.
The company has a number of high profile customers under its belt, including Admiral, Confused.com and Hugh James.

"We are excited to be joining forces with SysGroup and look forward to continuing our growth and enhancing our market strength as a combined entity," added Paul Brown, CEO of Certus.
"Our shared culture of putting customers first and our flexibility and commitment to delivering solutions, will bring untold advantages and business opportunities to both the enlarged group and our extended customer base moving forward."
SysGroup has been on somewhat of an acquisition drive in the last few years, including System Professional and Rockford, using this as a way to expand its hold on the market. And it would seem more purchases are on the cards in the near future.
The company has said acquisitions form a big part of its growth strategy.
"Through this period of growth, we remain completely committed to ensuring exceptional levels of customer service and delivering best-of-breed solutions to our enlarged customer base," Binks added.
"This latest acquisition will amplify our capabilities, reach and scale in a way that we believe will deliver real competitive advantage to both us at SysGroup and our customers."
