Barracuda has acquired remote monitoring and management platform Managed Workspace to boost its portfolio of security products for MSPs.

Buying the Avast subsidiary will mean Barracuda partners can offer enhanced security services to end-users, such as site security assessments, Office 365 account management and integrated third-party antivirus.

“We have consistently been expanding our portfolio of MSP solutions, and our partners’ response — based on their spend with us — has been very positive,” said BJ Jenkins, CEO at Barracuda Networks. “The acquisition of Managed Workplace continues that portfolio expansion, building on the success we’ve seen with our MSP partners over the past three years.”

The acquisition news follows the announcement that Barracuda has grown its presence in the MSP market, building its MSP partner base by nearly 300% over the last two years. In the same period, it has grown its security recurring revenues by more than 120% and upped the number of MSPs using multiple Barracuda products by 34%.

Adding new products such as Managed Phishline to its portfolio has also had an impact on the company's success, offering MSPs enhanced tools to manage a business's entire security setup.

“Our mission is to empower our MSP partners to create services to sell, deliver profitable offerings, and demonstrate value to their customers,” said Brian Babineau, SVP and general manager at Barracuda MSP.

“With Managed Workplace we can offer MSP partners a security-centric RMM solution that incorporates security tasks into a service provider’s daily routine. It complements the security solutions we have introduced via our MSP model, such as email protection, cloud-generation firewalls, and security awareness training.”
