Samsung Electronics has announced two new appointments: Dion Smith takes the role of general manager, Samsung UK print division, while Philip Gaut will become general manager, of Samsung’s UK display division.

Prior to joining Samsung Smith held various positions in print sales, solutions and service at Dell. Before that he was responsible for developing HP’s Managed Print Services offering within Western Europe.

Gaut joins Samsung from Acer, where until recently he was head of the peripherals division and managed the rapid growth of Acer’s TFT and projector sales in the UK. Prior to joining Acer, Gaut held a number of roles at Sony including responsibility for driving B2B Notebook and AV sales. In his new position, Phillip will focus on strengthening Samsung’s position within the display market, working closely with channel partners to drive value growth of Samsung’s wide display portfolio.

Says Graham Long, VP UK and Ireland IT Business: “Dion and Philip’s combined wealth of experience in the print, display and the IT industry make them invaluable additions to our team. We’re continuing to build the foundations of Samsung UK’s IT Business and I believe they will both play a key role in driving the long term growth of our brand across both markets.”
