EOL IT Services appoints new MD

Cloud handshake

EOL IT Services has recruited Blancco's former head of global sales, Daniel Smith, as managing director of its operation, with his immediate objective to aid businesses to prepare for the incoming General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

With more than 20 years' experience in the IT enterprise, as well as in-depth knowledge of the impact GDPR will have on businesses, Smith is perfectly suited to the role, said EOL IT.

As an advisor to other businesses about how to adapt practices to adhere to the GDPR guidelines, Smith believes the Asset Disposal Industry will be one area of IT where uncertified providers will begin to decline and corporations will start taking responsibility for their own asset disposal. The risks are too high for businesses to cut corners.

“As the introduction of GDPR draws close, it is incumbent for IT asset disposal providers to meet the increasing industry legislation and customer expectations of the next generation," Smith said.

"IT Asset Disposal providers will need to demonstrate more security, audibility and professionalism when recycling IT equipment. I am excited about the future as EOL is extremely well positioned for the arrival of GDPR through its high level of accreditations and certifications.”

EOL IT explained GDPR will provide it with a huge opportunity to demonstrate to customers and the industry compliance to industry accreditations and should any of its customers be called into question by the ICO, they will be able to show a fully auditable trail of data destruction processes.
