Avanade awarded first GitHub advanced services accreditation
The accreditation will allow Avanade to access open source projects while keeping code in-house
Microsoft partner Avanade has announced it has become the first global systems integrator to be awarded GitHub’s Advanced Services & Channel Partner accreditation.
The move will allow Avanade to reduce software development times for clients, the firm says, with GitHub’s Enterprise platform enabling organisations to bring developer experience in-house.
Open source coding site GitHub was acquired by Microsoft back in 2018 for $7.5 billion but continues to retain its developer-first ethos and operates independently. The company’s head of partner and channel, Leon Jones, said Avanade is ideally positioned to help it roll out its Enterprise platform “at the scale that large companies need it”.
"GitHub is where all developers want to be," commented Craig Wood, executive of software engineering at Avanade. "There is a skills crisis worldwide, with corporations desperately looking for developer talent.”
Founded back in 2000 as a joint venture between Accenture and Microsoft, Avanade is currently 20% owned by the Redmond firm.
Commenting on its new accreditation, the company said gaining access to GiHub’s Enterprise platform will enable its clients to leverage open source without needing to share proprietary code outside of their organisation – ultimately reducing time to market for company development projects.
Clients will also benefit from access to GitHub’s mission-critical tools, it added, which are tailored to suit modern software organisations – including source code security, development insights and analytics, open source, and InnerSource management.

“With 50 million developers, GitHub and its Enterprise platform enables organisations to bring developer experience in house, and we at Avanade can help bring the expertise to ensure large organisations benefit from it," Wood added.
