The longtime contributor takes the place of Marc Waters, who will stay with HPE as a senior vice president

Cloud computing firm Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) has announced, with immediate effect, the appointment of Matt Harris to the role of UK managing director.
Harris will take on the management of HPE’s enterprise products and services, UK operations, and more than 2,000 staff across London, Reading, Manchester, Bristol and Glasgow.

He will assume the role from Marc Waters, who has been in place since 2016 and oversaw changes such as the company’s new partner program for XaaS practices. Waters will be staying with HPE as the senior vice president of UK, Middle East, Africa and High-Performance Computing EMEA.
Having worked at HPE for 18 years, Harris has a breadth of experience in areas ranging from the public sector to accounts of global firms. After graduating with a BA in Economics & Business from Newcastle University, Harris began work for HPE as an intern in 2004.
In 2013, he joined the UK leadership organisation, where he held roles such as UK sales manager for storage and UK general manager for servers. Since 2018, he has held the role of UK chief sales officer as well as vice president of hybrid IT infrastructure.
In 2020, he spoke at an IT Pro panel about on-premise hardware, while leading the hybrid IT infrastructure group to develop solutions in emerging markets including artificial intelligence (AI), IoT and big data.
“I’m delighted to take the leadership of a business that I have called home for 18 years and at a time when HPE’s edge-to-cloud portfolio is better positioned than it has ever been,” said Harris in a statement.
