Cloud software provider NetApp has announced the appointment of Dell executive Sonya Mathieu as its new channel lead for the UK and Ireland.

Mathieu joins the business from Dell Technologies, where she was most recently UK director of data protection and cyber resistance. Prior to an eight-year stint at Dell, she also held sales leadership positions at business process and tech services provider Xchanging, and data storage and virtualisation integrator Zentra Computer Technologies.

Now, Mathieu is tasked with leading NetApp’s channel across the UK and Ireland, as the business continues its mission to establish itself as a hybrid cloud leader in the region.

“I have long admired NetApp for the way the company treats its channel partners and partner ecosystem - its reputation is second to none,” Mathieu said. “I also recognise that NetApp is leading the market in terms of working with and understanding the value to customers of working with the public clouds. I cannot wait to get started.”

Cloud-led, data-centric software provider NetApp made its first foray into the UK 25 years ago, with the market since growing to become the largest cloud market in Europe.

The company said its revamped leadership team will continue to drive its UK transformation and establish itself as a leading provider of multi-cloud solutions, hybrid cloud storage, and cloud data services.

As channel lead, Mathieu will report to the firm’s recently-appointed UK vice president and general manager Piero Gallucci.

“I am delighted to welcome Sonya Mathieu to her role as leader of NetApp’s UK and Ireland channel programme. Her wealth of experience in delivering excellence in sales, developing high-performing teams and, most recently, leading on data protection and cyber resistance, will be a vital enhancement to our organisation,” Gallucci said.

“I am confident that Sonya’s passion, knowledge, and experience will make her a great addition to the culture and strength of the UK leadership team, as well as a brilliant support for our customers and our partners.”
