Driving intelligent transformation: Huawei's vision for the future at Gitex Global 2024
Li Peng, corporate senior vice president and president of ICT sales and service at Huawei, outlines how the company is leading the way in intelligent transformation, building partnerships, and developing talent to drive global growth in the intelligent era

At the Huawei Industrial Digital and Intelligent Transformation Summit, held as part of Gitex Global 2024 in Dubai, Li Peng, corporate senior vice president and president of ICT sales and service at Huawei, shared the company’s vision for an intelligent future.
The keynote highlighted how Huawei is helping industries unlock new opportunities through digital and intelligent transformation, providing the infrastructure, partnerships, and talent development needed to thrive in this evolving landscape.
“The digital economy is evolving into an intelligent economy, which will soon become the main engine of global economic growth,” Li Peng stated. He emphasized that industries worldwide are driving forward with digital transformation, seeking greater value from digital technologies in every facet of their operations — even in traditionally non-digital sectors.
Li Peng outlined how companies are increasingly exploring technologies, such as full connectivity and industrial IoT platforms, to unlock real-time intelligence. In addition, intelligent transformation is gaining momentum, boosting productivity, reducing operational costs, and creating innovative new business models. As Li Peng noted: “Going digital and intelligent is the clear path forward, and it’s the best way to stay competitive.”
Huawei’s role in enabling intelligent transformation
Huawei is committed to supporting businesses in this transition by leveraging its strengths across networking, storage, computing, cloud, and energy sectors to create new digital and intelligent infrastructure. By integrating these technologies, Huawei provides a comprehensive suite of solutions that cater to various industry needs, making it easier for businesses to adopt and benefit from intelligent transformation.
Li Peng shared how Huawei’s ‘All Intelligence’ strategy and reference architecture are already guiding industry transformation in practical ways. This strategy focuses on delivering intelligent infrastructure that is collaborative, open, agile, and secure, allowing enterprises to develop capabilities that are essential for success in the intelligent era. Huawei’s reference architecture serves as a blueprint for industries looking to embark on or accelerate their transformation journey, providing clear guidelines on how to leverage digital and intelligent technologies effectively.
“Together with partners, we serve top customers in sectors such as government, finance, electricity, transportation, manufacturing, oil and gas, mining, and the Internet,” Li Peng highlighted.
Huawei's collaborative approach ensures that each solution is tailored to meet specific industry requirements, thus maximizing the value of digital investments. By working closely with customers to understand their specific business scenarios, Huawei has developed over 100 industry-specific solutions in the past year, helping organizations navigate their unique journeys toward digital and intelligent transformation.
In addition, Huawei has been actively investing in research and development (R&D) to innovate and enhance its product offerings. The company’s emphasis on R&D has led to advancements in integral components of its intelligent infrastructure solutions. These innovations are helping customers across industries to reduce costs, improve operational efficiency, and create new revenue streams.
Furthermore, Huawei’s cloud and energy solutions are playing a critical role in driving intelligent transformation. By offering scalable cloud infrastructure and energy-efficient technologies, Huawei is enabling businesses to operate sustainably while maintaining the flexibility required to adapt to changing market conditions. This commitment to sustainability is reflected in Huawei’s solutions that not only focus on improving productivity but also on reducing the environmental impact of digital operations.
The real-world impact of Huawei’s solutions
Several success stories illustrate Huawei’s impact in facilitating intelligent transformation globally. In Côte d'Ivoire, Huawei partnered with the Ministry of Transportation to implement an intelligent transportation system. “As a result, road safety risks have decreased, and traffic flow has improved by more than 10%,” Li Peng explained.
In another initiative, Huawei’s One Cloud, One Network solution has helped 33 countries in the Middle East and Africa build inclusive connectivity, covering over 1,000 government agencies and significantly improving both service efficiency and citizen satisfaction. These examples demonstrate the power of collaboration in achieving positive outcomes across diverse sectors.
Huawei's partner ecosystem plays a pivotal role in its digital transformation strategy. “At Huawei, we are committed to building a healthy, open, and mutually beneficial partner ecosystem,” Li Peng affirmed.
This ecosystem has grown rapidly, with more than 47,000 partners worldwide, and significant growth seen in the enterprise market this year.
Huawei's network of 14 OpenLabs around the world supports joint innovation, allowing Huawei and its local partners to develop tailored solutions that meet regional needs. Huawei is also dedicated to enabling small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to adopt digital technologies more easily, providing lightweight solutions that make transformation accessible.
Building a global ICT workforce
“You cannot go digital or intelligent without people who have the right knowledge and skills,” Li Peng emphasized.
To address this, Huawei is investing in building local digital talent through a series of ICT Academies worldwide. In Egypt, Huawei has trained over 36,000 ICT engineers and 1,000 developers, while in Saudi Arabia, over 32,000 students have received ICT training, and 6,500 professionals have obtained Huawei ICT certification.
These initiatives are designed to ensure that the next generation of talent is ready to drive digital and intelligent transformation in their respective regions, empowering communities and industries to achieve long-term growth.
In his closing remarks, Li Peng underscored Huawei’s commitment to partnering with organizations globally to create more opportunities in the intelligent era. “Together, we can achieve more, create more, and make the most of huge opportunities in this exciting new era,” he concluded.
Huawei’s vision for intelligent transformation is clear: by leveraging technology, expanding partnerships, and building talent, Huawei aims to lead industries toward a future where digital and intelligent solutions drive growth, foster innovation, enhance sustainability, and ensure competitiveness on a global scale.
