Would you post your CV on Facebook?
The social network challenges LinkedIn by testing a new CV upload feature
Facebook is testing a feature that'll let users upload their CV to the site, marking another broadside against rival social network LinkedIn.
this summer introduced job search tools, designed to make it easier for companies with profile pages to find new staff using the site. The next step appears to be a system to let users upload resumes to advertise their skills and experience, according to screenshots spotted by The Next Web.
The screenshot shows a basic job listing including the company, role title and when you worked there as well as education details.
While Facebook already has a work and education section on the site, the new feature being trialled suggests the social network wants users to include more professional details, and that further features integrating your CV with job search tools may also be on the way.
The report noted that the work details won't all be shown on your public profile, suggesting your full CV could only be made visible to headhunters. Alternatively, it could be used to fill in applications via its job search tool, which already pulls in relevant details from your profile.
The feature is only being tested at the moment, and may never be rolled out across the site, but it's clear Facebook is hoping to find a way to shift more into the professional market and target Microsoft-owned LinkedIn.
Alongside the job search functions added this summer, Facebook has also rolled out Workplace, a version of the site designed as a collaborative tool for organisations, with staff using Groups to brainstorm, messenger to chat, and the news feed as a quasi-intranet, for example.
