Cyber security provider WatchGuard Technologies has announced the appointment of HoJin Kim as its new senior vice president and chief revenue officer.

The industry veteran will head up the company’s worldwide sales organisation, responsible for driving revenue growth, scaling the sales business, as well as driving adoption of WatchGuard’s Unified Security Platform within the MSP community.

Kim brings more than 25 years of leadership experience, having previously led various global and regional partner teams in developing and implementing channel strategies.

Announcing the hire, WatchGuard said this extensive channel experience, alongside a deep knowledge of the security market, made Kim an ideal fit as the company looks to its next phase of growth.

“HoJin is the ideal addition to our leadership team, and I look forward to seeing his contributions towards accelerating our stated company vision – to be the security platform provider for the MSP community,” said Prakash Panjwani, CEO at WatchGuard.

Kim joins the business from The Channel Company where, as chief revenue officer, he was responsible for driving growth, delivering on the firm’s quarterly goals and long-term strategy.

Prior to that, the seasoned channel executive served as vice president of worldwide channels for the likes of SonicWall, Samsung, and HPE. He has also previously held regional roles managing partner programmes at Juniper Networks and IBM.

Commenting on his appointment, Kim praised WatchGuard’s “singular focus” on enabling the MSP with its Unified Security Platform, describing it as “just what the industry needs to succeed in this cyber security landscape”.

“During the company’s more than 25 years in operation, WatchGuard has built an enviable partner community that has achieved success through trust, listening, and innovation,” he added. “I’m honoured to have the opportunity to work with this community to extend that success for many years to come.”

Kim replaces WatchGuard’s departing chief revenue officer Sean Price, who leaves the company after seven years.

“I want to thank Sean Price for his seven years of excellent service at WatchGuard,” Panjwani added. “It’s been a journey of unparalleled growth for WatchGuard and strong relationship building with our MSP community, and we’ve had a great time in the process.”
