Splunk and New Relic share data to power DevOps
The Splunk App for New Relic works across on-premise, cloud and hybrid infrastructures
Splunk and New Relic have joined forces to help companies improve their customer experience by providing key insights into application performance and infrastructure health with data shared between the two.
While Splunk collects, analyses and visualises machine data from the business' IT stack, including on-premise, cloud and hybrid applications and infrastructure, New Relic's platform collects and finds the information from within the application code, offering up more detailed insights.
The two companies explained this approach, brought together in the Splunk App for New Relic, can help businesses find and act upon the relevant data faster, making it a more seamless process for the customer, while developers and DevOps teams can identify problems quickly and reduce mean-time-to-resolution (MTTR).
"Machine data is the fuel for digital transformation and those organizations capitalizing on the opportunity are leading the way in IT by monitoring and troubleshooting application performance, often with both Splunk and New Relic," said Rick Fitz, senior vice president of IT Markets at Splunk.
"The partnership enables our joint customers to gain value faster, whether their applications run on-premises or on the cloud. The integration breaks down silos within IT teams to be able to fully leverage both data and workflow insights across the platforms to gain deeper insights with fewer steps."
The solution will also improve revenues and resources for engineering teams because it's a more efficient way for businesses already using New Relic and Splunk independently to work.
"New Relic's agent data provides visibility into the dependencies across customer experience to application code to infrastructure. When combined with machine data from Splunk, our joint customers will be able to troubleshoot and innovate faster," said Jim Gochee, chief product officer at New Relic.
