Ingram Micro expands AWS partnership to UK and Ireland
The UK will also participate in the company's global Comet Competition
Ingram Micro is bringing its partnership with cloud giant Amazon Web Services to the UK and Ireland, as the IT distributor looks to broaden its infrastructure as a service (IaaS) capabilities in the region.
Available to channel partners, the expansion provides resellers and MSPs with access to AWS functionality straight from Ingram Micro’s Cloud ecosystem, allowing them to deliver a secure platform that offers compute power, database storage, content delivery and more.
Ingram Micro said its aim is to support partners in building sophisticated applications with increased flexibility, scalability and reliability by providing them with a full suite of technical support.
“We are excited to be launching AWS in the UK,” said Matt Sanderson, Ingram Micro’s UKI managing director. “Over the last few years we have been making substantial investments into our IaaS capabilities, by expanding our team of Solution Architects, IaaS Specialist Pre-Sales Consultants and our Ingram Micro Services team.
“With the addition of AWS to our portfolio, we can offer our depth and scale partners an even more complete suite of cloud offerings, and the technical support behind it, to ensure that they can deliver transformative cloud services to their customers.”
To prepare for the UK and Ireland launch, Ingram Micro Services has also been educating and training many of its consultants to AWS Solutions Architect – Associate status.
“We are now AWS-ready with both pre-sales and post-sales skills,” added Simon Day, Ingram Micro services director. “Which means we can now offer our partners true multi-cloud services and support enabling choice and flexibility for their end users.”

The move follows the distributor’s confirmation that the UK will be a participant in its global Comet Competition, set to take place in Miami 2020.
The contest seeks to uncover, fund and bring to market the next wave of B2B software innovators, with ISV applicants evaluated on a host of criteria, such as future vision, channel potential and ecosystem readiness.
The winner of the UK round – which takes place in Manchester between 15-16th October – will go on to compete for $1 million in go-to-market funding at the competition finals in Miami next year.
"I'm anticipating the biggest competition of its kind, and I'm proud that Ingram Micro Cloud is very much at the forefront of this new pathway to discovering new talent in the technology industry,” commented Scott Murphy, director of Cloud UK&I at Ingram Micro.
"We're looking to drive deeper relationships for our partners by creating an outlet for finding new best-of-breed technology solutions."
