Talend names new CEO in leadership shakeup

Two hands shaking over a desk

Talend has announced the appointment of Christal Bemont as its new CEO and member of the board, as the cloud data integration and integrity firm continues its quest to become a billion-dollar company.

Former chief revenue officer at SAP Concur, Bemont replaces outgoing CEO Mike Tuchen, who led Talend through a six-year period that saw it grow from a $50 million start-up to a $250 million publicly-held company. The changes are effective immediately, Talend said, although Tuchen will remain on the Board of Directors.

“Today marks the next chapter at Talend — as we accelerate our journey to becoming a billion-dollar revenue company,” Tuchen commented. “I’ve been honored to help lead the team that brought Talend from startup to IPO and now to a quarter-billion-dollars, and look forward to seeing Talend enter its next growth phase at scale.

“Christal has exceptionally strong leadership skills, deep go-to-market experience, and unique expertise in scaling multi-billion dollar cloud businesses. She’s the right leader at the right time in Talend’s evolution.”

During her time at SAP Concur, Bemont oversaw the company’s global footprint of 90-plus countries and was responsible for developing and executing all go-to-market strategies to drive and sustain 25+% annual revenue growth.

Prior to that, she held leadership and sales positions across the company’s enterprise and SMB segments during her 15-year tenure. Earlier in her career, Bemont also held roles at Motorola, Adexs, Extensity and Clarify.

“Talend is now in a unique position to attack what has become a multi-billion-dollar cloud market opportunity,” said Christal Bemont, Talend CEO. “I’m delighted to be joining the company and look forward to working with my leadership team and a talented group of employees to leverage Talend’s cloud momentum and drive the business forward.”

Talend also announced the appointment of Ann-Christel Graham to the newly created position of chief revenue officer. With two decades’ worth of saas sales leadership experience, she also joins the company from SAP Concur, where she held the position of vice president of sales for enterprise clients and was responsible for managing multi-million-dollar sales cycles for Fortune 500 companies.

Elsewhere, Muriel Raffatin also joins the business as head of EMEA marketing, while Gareth Vincent will join next month as general manager of EMEA. Nanci Caldwell steps down from her position on the Board of Directors, Talend said.
