NetApp has announced the promotion of Chris Greenwood to the role of senior sales and managing director for the UK and Ireland.

Reporting to Alexander Wallner, NetApp’s senior vice president and general manager of the EMEA region, Greenwood is tasked with enhancing relationships within the firm’s customer portfolio to boost organic growth.

He will also focus on winning new accounts in NetApp’s target sectors such as healthcare and financial services, as well as continue to manage the strong sales momentum for its Hybrid Cloud Infrastructure (HCI) offerings.

Greenwood takes over from Nick Thurlow, who leaves the position after a successful two-and-a-half-year tenure that saw the business gain a large market share in EMEA.

“We are delighted to promote Chris Greenwood into this key role for NetApp in the UK and Ireland. It is well deserved as Chris has proven himself to be a true leader when it comes to understanding and educating others on the value of NetApp’s services,” Wallner said.

“The UK and Ireland are important markets for our future growth, and Chris has proven himself a powerful advocate for our customers and partners.”

Greenwood has spent the last nine years at NetApp in a number of senior roles, predominantly in the Northern European region, where he has built a deep knowledge of the brand, associated products and target markets.

He also has over 23 years’ experience in the enterprise technology industry, with previous roles at organisations such as BT and Sun Microsystems.

“It has been a pleasure to have taken the lead on key sales initiatives for NetApp EMEA over the last nine years,” Greenwood said.

“NetApp has a compelling Data Fabric strategy, a strong portfolio of products, vibrant partner network and relevant expertise which is well-suited for today’s data-driven businesses. We are in a pole position to lead change in the hybrid and multi-cloud era.”
