Box hires former Google Cloud executive to lead EMEA operations
Appointment follows an office expansion in Poland and the acquisition of SignRequest

Cloud content management provider Box has announced the appointment of former Google Cloud executive Sebastien Marotte as its new EMEA president.
Effective from 7th June, the company says the hire underscores its continued commitment to the region as it looks to expand its global presence and drive its Content Cloud storage platform.
Recently, the company announced a new office opening in Warsaw, Poland, as well as the acquisition of European electronic signature firm SignRequest.
“Sebastien is joining at an exciting time for Box, as we’re continuing to grow our international presence and amplify the power of the Content Cloud,” commented Stephanie Carullo, COO of Box.
“Sebastien has comprehensive knowledge of the EMEA business landscape, and extensive experience leading in multiple markets. We’re thrilled to welcome him to lead our EMEA operations.
Over a career spanning more than 30 years, Marotte has held roles at some of the biggest names in global software, including Google, Hyperion and Oracle.
Most recently, he led Google Cloud’s EMEA Channels as Vice President, following an eight-year stint as Vice President of Google Cloud EMEA. As an early leader in the tech giant’s cloud venture, Marotte was responsible for much of the foundational growth and development across the region – including the launch of G Suite (now known as Google Workspace).

Now, Marotte will lead Box’s push across the EMEA region, at a time when businesses are requiring rapid change as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“The pandemic has accelerated the pace of change for just about every company on the planet, and the move to the cloud has never been more urgent,” Marotte said. “As more companies realise that their businesses run on content, the demand for a secure platform for managing all of that content in the cloud will continue to grow.
“I strongly believe that Box has the strategy and team in place to capture this amazing opportunity, and I’m incredibly excited to join at this important part of the journey.”
