Two key figures in HPE's cloud and storage division quit
Bill Hilf and Manish Goel have decided to move on, amid rumours the divisions will be sold
Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) has announced two of its senior cloud executives, Bill Hilf, SVP and GM of HP Cloud and Manish Goel, SVP and GM of storage, will be leaving the company.
The news was announced by Antonio Neri, executive VP and GM of HPE's enterprise group, in a blog post that outlined some changes HPE will be undergoing in order to try and make its hybrid IT and storage divisions more buoyant.
"We are moving our Helion OpenStack (HOS) and Helion CloudSystem teams to [the Enterprise Group] and will become part of the newly created Software-Defined & Cloud Group (SDCG), led by Ric Lewis," Neri said.
"By bringing these assets together, we create a single organisation tasked with a common mission – to provide best-in-class solutions that enable developers and operators to deploy their applications across traditional and cloud infrastructures, simply and effortlessly."
This re-organised team will be led by Mark Interrante, while Hilf leaves to "pursue other opportunities."
However, the news comes amid speculation that HPE is looking to sell off the two divisions as it attempts to recoup some losses. Citing "people familiar with the matter", Reuters reported that buyout firms are thinking about acquiring assets HPE could be putting up for sale, worth between $6 billion and $8 billion.
HPE declined to comment on the rumours.

This is the latest news in a long string of disappointments for the company's cloud division. Late last year, the company announced it was bowing out of public cloud services, instead to focus on its hybrid strategy.
Hilf said at the time: "Our customers are consistently telling us that in order to meet their full spectrum of needs, they want a hybrid combination of efficiently managed traditional IT and private cloud.
“With these customer needs in mind, we have made the decision to double-down on our private and managed cloud capabilities.”
