Egnyte and Synology buddy up for flexible storage
Partnership will deliver unified Cloud and NAS products to SMBs

Cloud file-sharing company Egnyte has partnered with network attached storage (NAS) vendor Synology to offer mid-sized firms access to, what they describe is, a more comprehensive storage service.
The integrated product will provide customers with a single offering that enables secure access to files stored locally, off-line and through the cloud, via any device, the companies say.
According to a statement from Egnyte, users can create and collaborate on files and then securely sync them to a Synology DiskStation NAS through Egnyte’s cloud.
This, the organisations claim, is particularly helpful for employees in distributed offices, who will be able to work together “as if they’re in the same location”.
Bart Giordano, senior director of business development at Egnyte, said: “The cloud is not enough when it comes to sharing and storing business files, and this partnership is a testament to the unique power of our platform to enable the best combination of on-premise and cloud sharing capabilities.”
Jason Bonoan, product marketing manager at Synology, added: “The ability to share files through the cloud with the combination of Egnyte and ... Synology DiskStation NAS allows better network bandwidth and enables options for our customers to easily and securely share their business files both inside and outside of the office.”
The product was debuted at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas this week and is due for general release during Q1 2014.
